Hello Everyone,

I write hoping you are well. As some of you guys know that doing volunteer work in Africa has been something my heart has called out to do for quite some time now. I have been specifically interested in Ghana, Africa because i know it desperately needs attention, it needs support in building classrooms, orphanage volunteering, and community teaching. I will be joining a team called Madventure. I will meet them in Ghana, Africa. Your support, however small, as little as $10 or $20 will help immensely. I personally hate asking for donations because i understand we’re all probably in need of donations ourselves. But the money that you spend today for lunch, just think as little as $5 or $10 can definitely give a child clean water and provide an education and build a classroom they can learn in, it goes a long way. Donations are also tax
deductible. For those who want to write it off, the charity for MAD foundation is 1111805 .

For those who can’t contribute, i ask for your prayer and support at this time. Pray for safety, health, and emotional well being, as i am sure it will be very different from home. it will be a great challenge to be without the comforts of home, warm shower, comfortable bed, tv, iphone, internet amongst the many things we are blessed with here but it is something i have thought about for quite some time now. The costs of the project includes the trip costs which will look after and support me, the charity donation which funds and supports the project. The target goal is $2500. I have set up this page to ask for your help in order to make this goal happen. Another alternative for those who would like to make a larger contribution, i will offer my photography services as a way of saying i really appreciate your generosity.

I appreciate however small or large a contribution you make. Thank You!

Children : Baby Sophie {precious little angel}

Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward….says Psalm 127:3. Here is precious Sophie, the baby of Proud Parents Judy and Jason. So tiny and sweet with her little hands and feet. You would never have known she was crying half of the time during the shoot. If i can just toot my own horn a bit, i think i worked my photographer magic. Being parents isn’t an easy task but when you see this bundle of joy, i am sure Judy and Jason revels in knowing they created this little being, she is just perfect, and no endless times of waking up in the middle of the night or the mounds of diaper changes will take away that special love that only parents will know…the love for their child, the special bond between them, and knowing that children really are a gift from God..

I think Sophie is extra special because well, Sophie is the name that i’ve been saving for my future little girl… Thank you, Judy and Jason for inviting me into your home; it’s a great honor to be asked to capture such a special milestone.

Without further ado…please meet oh so precious little one, Sophie Quynh Kupper…..where she’s strengthening her lungs here..

Ahh Sleep Sheep…would it un adult like for me to really want one?? It may just cure my insomnia!

Architect by day, Photographer by night, and Artist everyday….Taiyo Watanabe. While you’re sleeping he is out in the wee hours after an 8 hr work day shooting overpasses, underpasses, bums sleeping, and a guy smoking a joint in the alleys of Chinatown that may not phase most people. What may look ordinary to you, Taiyo turns it into a piece of art that has depth and character. I think that is a true artist; taking the humdrums of everyday life and giving it meaning. Always behind the camera and never in front, a night owl naturally, a fan of Tony Leung Chiu Wai, i thought it was fitting to do a night shoot, black and white, channeling a Wong Kar-Wai type movie and it was most definitely time for Taiyo to be in front of the camera. We drove around downtown Union Station, Chinatown, LA overpasses to get this shoot and i am happy for finding all the random nooks and crannies that LA has to offer.

I present up and coming artist, Taiyo Watanabe.

This is probably the only time i encourage someone to smoke. But Taiyo had just quit smoking.

I made Taiyo cut his hair for this shoot. haha..

Taiyo, “i’m not a laughing type person”. Me, “yes you are”.

This is where my flash decided to stop working….so the next few were shot without the flash..

Of course this happens when you’re shooting another photographer, you end up being in front of the camera…

Milla’s Korean 1 yr old birthday celebration. She is a cutie, ain’t she? Look at that smile.. Jeene was a past client and it’s always a joy to see clients have babies and let me share another special milestone. Jeene’s mom, i have to mention has great taste. I love how she’s decorated the dining area with George Stoll’s cup design. It’s just really neat, i think. The birthday was a hit, Jeene hired Soho Tacos (yumm) and a magician..the kids had such a great time and me….well i had a blast!

What a small world. Michelle had found me through an old client and contacted me but long story short…her photographer ended up to be Mimi Nguyen and Mimi asked me to shoot with her. At the wedding, Michelle and her bridesmaids said, “You’re Sandra Pan!”. I think it was probably one of the greatest feelings. It all worked out great because i got to meet and shoot with Mimi Nguyen of Mimi Nguyen photography and have a “celebrity” moment!

This couple stood out in the books because i remember during their first look, Jason was just utterly speechless. He kept saying, “wow…wow…WOW”, so taken by his future wife’s beauty.. with tears in his eyes. It was just lovely to witness.

It was a pleasure working with you, Mimi, thanks for having me. More to come..

There are so many incredible images from Susie and Cal’s wedding that i’ve put other posts on hold to bring you these lovely images of two beautiful people. The way they met is a cute one. Stories like these make you believe in soul mates! Cal was bored one night so he posted on craigslist’s personal match site. ( I didn’t even know they had such a section) Susie’s girlfriend saw the ad and told Susie to respond to it. Susie did, the two emailed a few times, they went out and as they say…the rest is history..

So many images, i may need to break into two posts.. We started the shoot at the incredibly busy Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles.. With views like such, i can imagine why…it was just BREATHTAKING.

I had SO much fun doing this breast cancer awareness shoot for Alegria Shoes around the Santa Monica Pier. A percentage of the sales go towards the cancer research for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The ladies here rocked the shoot, we had so much fun and it was great to see the Cominski family again! During the shoot a couple of people came up asking about the shoe and was interested in purchasing a few. I gave them the website so hopefully they’ve invested in a few. These shoes are made with comfort in mind and i know Kristin’s rocking in them with her scrubs. Mark, originally from Australia had business in North Carolina was en route to San Francisco for a layover before heading home. Mark and the mutual friend of Julie’s stayed with Julie over the weekend and the two naturally hit it off. Mark and Julie spent the entire weekend talking and just hanging out. As it would have it, they felt an instant connection and realized they were so comfortable with each other, they had disclosed important facts about one another that their friends may not even know of. They both took that as a sign and followed their hearts and here they are…..engaged!

I love that Julie booked me miles and miles away without having met me in person but because she loved my work. Thank you, Julie. I had a great time getting to know you and Mark!

Minasan Konichiwa! I am back from Japan. What an amaaaazzinng time…. The people are so polite, the streets are clean, and no trash cans anywhere…how do they keep their streets so clean? I had such a wonderful time there. The randomness have definitely made the trip memorable. A couple of things i’ve noticed; Japanese girls love their heels, no matter rain or shine, and in the freezing cold. Not only that, they love their heels with short short skirts as if they’re impervious to the cold. Love hotels are a common thing. Desserts are made to perfection. Things are cute and compact there. There’s still so much i didn’t get to see or do, so hopefully i’ll get to go back again! Here are just a few images i snapped with my DSLR. It rained most of the time we were there and so i didn’t bust out my camera too much.

Ciara and Dell’s wedding at the Oviatt hotel in downtown los angeles, right on the rooftop. I second shot this wedding with the talented Deann B. Ciara and Deann are best friends and Deann had to make the decision whether she would be part of the bridal party or her photographer. Looking at her beautiful pictures, i’d say Ciara is very happy to have had D be there capturing and sharing her special day.

Events : Good Cheer {Bash Eco Events and Yes, Please}

Last night’s event held at the Urban Craft Center in Santa Monica was themed Good Cheer and INDEED it was. Two lovely ladies, Paige Appel of Bash Eco Events and Kelly Robinson of Yes, Please, who will be in my books as two who KNOW how to throw an AWESOME party! Everything was planned to the T and no detail overlooked. I had such a great time, i found myself not wanting to leave. I brought my camera along which i don’t usually do to events when there’s a lot of mingling because it’s always hard to chat chitter, while holding a drink, and snapping away…but i am so glad i did! The event was so nicely done. I couldn’t get over the cute cuppieLove cupcakes! The music by DJ Nachey was off the charts along with the Violinist, i wish i had gotten her info! If you know, please let me know and i’ll link her here. A party isn’t complete without funny face making in a photobooth! Had so much fun in the photoboothlove! And Of course a party isn’t a party without good food and drinks! La Grande Orange did an awesome job with food and drinks from Luscious Libations! Thanks again to Paige and Kelly for being so awesome and throwing a fun party! It was so great to see so many people and meet new faces!

Jeene and John got married at the lovely Island Hotel in Newport Beach. The entire team did a fabulous job. Square Root Designs did an amaaaazzing job with the floral decor and design. It felt like a million dollar wedding. All of this was nicely planned out by the lovely Kerry Pulverman from De Luxe Weddings and Events. Jeene wore a beautiful dress that had pockets from designer Amsale purchased at the White Dress in Costa Mesa.

daily : sweet and saucy shop {yummy cupcakes}

I had a client meeting out in Long Beach and i have to admit, i coordinated my meeting there because for the longest time i have been trying to make my way out to this shop, Sweet and Saucy Shop. I have seen her cupcakes on her site and on photos but waited so patiently.. For those who know, i have a sweet spot for cupcakes. As i walk in Melody’s shop, immediately i thought this is something you find located in Beverly Hills, stylish and chic. Her shop is a reflection of all her talent and cakes; tasteful. Her lollipop cakes are a novel idea, having one just isn’t enough. One of my favorite cupcakes is the red velvet. I have tried making red velvet cupcakes but i can never make the red the right red. It always came out dull colored and dry. Melody makes this so perfectly; with the right color, moist, and icing was not overly sweet, but light and perfect. I also have an affinity towards oatmeal cookies, sweet and saucy’s oatmeal cookie is just heavenly…. I don’t have a picture of it because i ate most of it on the way home.
