I had the pleasure of photographing baby Gavin, precious son to my friend Amy whom i’ve known since the fourth grade. Wow, it even sounds weird as i type this..i am reminded of my age Without further side track..here’s precious baby Gavin…he reminds me of an Asian Gerber baby. Don’t you think so? So adorable..

My Christmas present to two special people and cheers to 43 years of marriage to mom and pops. Two important people who are in my thoughts often. I always feel as if i don’t spend enough time with them, but when we do, they are like my best friends. It is their love in their way that has made me so particular in the kind of love i seek. My mother has the biggest heart of any woman i know. My dad, a champion at Chinese chess and one of the funniest guys i know. At least that is what my mother thinks too, i can tell, her cheeks are often flushed from laughing so hard when they’re hanging out together.

I love photographing people, like looking through windows, seeing what’s on the other side. I love setting a stage to tell a story, each gesture, posture, look in the eyes, smile, every detail…tells a different story and when the subject nails the skit, my heart makes a sigh..yes, that is it…My shoot with the gorgeous and lovely, Tasha.. made me feel like that, she brought a story to life. I want people to look at my photographs and connect with it. I want people to look at my images and say, “i feel this way.” This is Miss Tasha representing Sephora Givenchy Cosmetics.. what a sweet, sweet soul…i look forward to seeing more of her.

Seth is a F18 pilot and so were his groomsmen (i was happy to learn of this as i used to work on the F35 JSF program so it’s always a very intriguing topic) and Erin is the executive producer for the Mormon Bachelor. I hear from Khris the show is possibly getting some major media publicity lately between ABC night-line, Good Morning America and a possible late night talk show. Now that is exciting! These two could not be happier and cuter. From the moment i met them, i could sense the joy from within when two people have found a special kind of love. Not only are they a darling looking couple; Seth looking like he could be on a day time soap opera and Erin reminding me of a blonde version of Jillian Harris from past seasons of ABC’s the Bachelorette. These two had a short engagement (Seth had known by the end of the night on their first date) but it was only fitting because when you know, you know…With Seth and Erin, you look at the two and you think yes, the stars aligned and it was meant to be. The wedding was reflective of their love and always makes my job fun when love is put into it because it doesn’t feel like work, it feels like you just got invited to watch a love story unfold. Erin’s dad put together a skit with songs and dance to tell a comedic version of their love story. I was highly entertained and my heart made a sigh for these two, because the love was evident all around, it was evident in the faces that watched these two admirably…they have finally found each other. The hopeless romantic in me had to take a step away to catch my breath. It really, really was incredibly sweet and i’m so glad to have witnessed their special day.

Love this bro moment…

I love that these two didn’t care that they got cake all over their faces..now that’s love!

And they lived happily ever…. Thanks to Burnt Exposure for contracting this and Natalie Williams, it was so much fun working together.

Gorgeous. I am at a lost for words. The light was amazing here at Venice Beach. I always love shooting at this beach as i’ve discovered the lighting is different in all areas. I know this as a photographer. The sun light in Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, in the Central Coast , simply gorgeous but luckily, that light is just as great here in Venice Beach, in the Silicon Beach area. I love styling my own shoots, from picking my client’s outfit to their hair and makeup, it allows me to be creative, which i love!

Remember adorable baby Sophie? Well she is growing right before our eyes. She is as cute as ever at 6 months. This little girl’s expression seriously cracks me up. I remember going through these images and i’d let out a chuckle every time i saw her face. I foresee lots of laughter from her parents as they watch her grow. She is the life of the party with her free expressions and “i’m just me” and in a SouthPark Carmen impression “I do what i want” expressions. Always a pleasure to photograph you, Sophie.

Cicelee and her beautiful family. Cicelee knows a friend who has property in the Irvine Cove residential area and so we had access to a private beach to shoot. That definitely helped as shooting a maternity can be a rather private and intimate affair.

Another hobby of mine is interior design. One of my favorite interior designers is Kelly Wearstler. You may have seen some of her work at the Viceroy in Santa Monica or the Palm Springs location. I love interior design, whether it’s decorating a space myself, or perusing through stores like crate and barrel , plummers, and west elm, or flipping through magazines like wallpaper * or dwell.. I just love the decor, colors, patterns, palettes, pillows, little knick knacks, the arrangement of furniture, the feng shui of it.. I guess i love it because it allows me to be creative. A room is like a blank canvas and combining the right items can transform the dullest of dull spaces. A touch of color can really add so much life to a room. I recently shot some designs that Faulkner designed for Marina Pointe Apartments. I love what they did to the space. Take a look.

I’ve always had a respectful, admirable, in awe crush with the Hugh Jackman but i think i’ve found someone who makes me feel like a little giddy school girl…(I blush as i type this post). Someone who i think would play the part of the famous Christian Grey from E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey books…Matt Bomer.. Look at this man, wow, i wonder if this is what Anastasia Steele must have felt. Well, this is what i feel when i look at this guy, i’m blushing when i say this… but WOWIE…someone crack a window, it’s getting hot in here.

I met Connie through the cyber world on a site called Yelp. Heard of it? Connie was the community manager for Yelp for the Mountain View area and she did a fantastic job with the company but it was time for her new adventure. She achieved many milestones for the company and she is so good at her craft that she was recently asked to work for Gogobot. A company that seems to have gotten a lot of press lately. Hello Everyone,

I write hoping you are well. As some of you guys know that doing volunteer work in Africa has been something my heart has called out to do for quite some time now. I have been specifically interested in Ghana, Africa because i know it desperately needs attention, it needs support in building classrooms, orphanage volunteering, and community teaching. I will be joining a team called Madventure. I will meet them in Ghana, Africa. Your support, however small, as little as $10 or $20 will help immensely. I personally hate asking for donations because i understand we’re all probably in need of donations ourselves. But the money that you spend today for lunch, just think as little as $5 or $10 can definitely give a child clean water and provide an education and build a classroom they can learn in, it goes a long way. Donations are also tax
deductible. For those who want to write it off, the charity for MAD foundation is 1111805 .

The costs of the project includes the trip costs which will look after and support me, the charity donation which funds and supports the project. The target goal is $2500. I have set up this page to ask for your help in order to make this goal happen. Another alternative for those who would like to make a larger contribution, i will offer my photography services as a way of saying i really appreciate your generosity.

Children : Baby Sophie {precious little angel}

Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward….says Psalm 127:3. Here is precious Sophie, the baby of Proud Parents Judy and Jason. So tiny and sweet with her little hands and feet. You would never have known she was crying half of the time during the shoot. If i can just toot my own horn a bit, i think i worked my photographer magic. Being parents isn’t an easy task but when you see this bundle of joy, i am sure Judy and Jason revels in knowing they created this little being, she is just perfect, and no endless times of waking up in the middle of the night or the mounds of diaper changes will take away that special love that only parents will know…the love for their child, the special bond between them, and knowing that children really are a gift from God..

I think Sophie is extra special because well, Sophie is the name that i’ve been saving for my future little girl… Thank you, Judy and Jason for inviting me into your home; it’s a great honor to be asked to capture such a special milestone.

Without further ado…please meet oh so precious little one, Sophie Quynh Kupper…..where she’s strengthening her lungs here..

Ahh Sleep Sheep…would it un adult like for me to really want one?? It may just cure my insomnia!

lifestyle : taiyo watanabe {a black and white affair}

Architect by day, Photographer by night, and Artist everyday….Taiyo Watanabe. While you’re sleeping he is out in the wee hours after an 8 hr work day shooting overpasses, underpasses, bums sleeping, and a guy smoking a joint in the alleys of Chinatown that may not phase most people. What may look ordinary to you, Taiyo turns it into a piece of art that has depth and character. I think that is a true artist; taking the humdrums of everyday life and giving it meaning. Always behind the camera and never in front, a night owl naturally, a fan of Tony Leung Chiu Wai, i thought it was fitting to do a night shoot, black and white, channeling a Wong Kar-Wai type movie and it was most definitely time for Taiyo to be in front of the camera. We drove around downtown Union Station, Chinatown, LA overpasses to get this shoot and i am happy for finding all the random nooks and crannies that LA has to offer.

I present up and coming artist, Taiyo Watanabe.

This is probably the only time i encourage someone to smoke. But Taiyo had just quit smoking.

I made Taiyo cut his hair for this shoot. haha..

Taiyo, “i’m not a laughing type person”. Me, “yes you are”.

This is where my flash decided to stop working….so the next few were shot without the flash..

Of course this happens when you’re shooting another photographer, you end up being in front of the camera…

Milla’s Korean 1 yr old birthday celebration. She is a cutie, ain’t she? Look at that smile.. Jeene was a past client and it’s always a joy to see clients have babies and let me share another special milestone. Jeene’s mom, i have to mention has great taste. I love how she’s decorated the dining area with George Stoll‘s cup design. It’s just really neat, i think. The birthday was a hit, Jeene hired Soho Tacos (yumm) and a magician..the kids had such a great time and me….well i had a blast!

What a small world. Michelle had found me through an old client and contacted me but long story short…her photographer ended up to be Mimi Nguyen and Mimi asked me to shoot with her. At the wedding, Michelle and her bridesmaids said, “You’re Sandra Pan!”. I think it was probably one of the greatest feelings. It all worked out great because i got to meet and shoot with Mimi Nguyen of Mimi Nguyen photography and have a “celebrity” moment!

This couple stood out in the books because i remember during their first look, Jason was just utterly speechless. He kept saying, “wow…wow…WOW”, so taken by his future wife’s beauty.. with tears in his eyes. It was just lovely to witness.

It was a pleasure working with you, Mimi, thanks for having me. More to come..
